MARY HUNNELL SMITH
Mary Smith has devoted her career to legal matters pertaining to health care, pharmaceautical products, medical devices, product liability, and complex litigation. Among other activities, Ms. Smith has performed the following functions:
- National coordinating counsel for major insurers and university system with responsibility for litigation management of thousands of pharmaceutical claims.
- Trial counsel for mass tort litigation in Texas and various MDLs related to breast implants, Norplant, diet drugs (fen-phen), Rezulin, Propulsid, Baycol, Serzone, Celebrex, thimerosal, OxyContin, dexamethasone, Risperdal, Vioxx, Zyprexa, and hormone replacement therapy.
- Contract negotiations, and preparation of agreements between universities, insurers and various pharmaceutical companies. Also, composed contracts for a major hospital system and managed contract disputes involving physician practice groups.
- Representation of clinical investigators, physician advisory board members, and CROs in depositions and document production related to drug litigation.
- Appointed to the institutional review boards of Twelve Oaks Hospital and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
- Tried Texas medical malpractice cases to verdict.

STEVEN McCONNELL SMITH
Steve Smith concentrates his practice in business law and real estate litigation. He has worked as an attorney representing some of Houston's largest banks and real estate companies. and some of Houston's most successful private hard asset based lenders. Mr. Smith has multi-state real estate experience and is familiar with what it takes to close the deal. He has represented large mortgage companies and has developed a thorough legal knowledge of all real estate transactions and real estate litigation. Mr. Smith uses the latest technology and knows how to hit the books for your case. He uses both technology and practical experience to manage his trial docket commercial practice. Prior to beginning his legal career he worked in commercial real estate as a licensed real estate broker. He owns a commercial mortgage company called Point Mortgage in Houston, Texas.. Mr. Smith has combined his legal knowledge with the business opportunities afforded the real estate community by creating point of sale ancillary services for the real estate industry. He has lectured on mortgage lending, RESPA, and changes in the real estate industry.
